The most popular festival is "Moors and Christians", when the locals organise a battle commemorating the harsh fights that took place here centuries ago. The Moors were dangerous pirates that were rejected by locals on numerous occasions. The celebration is watched by thousands of tourists, because it takes place during the most crowded period in Javea, meaning the month of July. The battle ends with feasting, dancing and with a huge party in the evening.
